Bike Helmets

Under provincial law, all minors (i.e. under 18 years old) are required to wear a bicycle helmet in Ontario.  Like many other cycling-oriented organizations, we believe everyone should wear a bike helmet.

On August 20, 2015, MCAC adopted a Mandatory Bike Helmet policy for ALL riders (including adults) participating in any MCAC-sponsored cycling events.  This policy is cited on the webpage for our Community Rides series.  Virtually all other group ride programs have this proviso for participation.

► The Region of Peel Walk + Roll program has an informative Bike Helmet webpage.

How does a bicycle helmet work?

To be effective, a bike helmet must be properly fitted and positioned on the wearer's head.
